Homemade ranch dressing is so much better than bottled! It is super fast and easy, too. I am not sure where this recipe came from but I have been making it for many years now. This does last at least a few weeks in the refrigerator. The recipe is doubled from the original but I often double it again, essentially a quadruple batch. Go ahead and cut the recipe in half, if desired.
RANCH DRESSING
- 1 cup mayonnaise
- 1 cup sour cream
- 1 cup buttermilk
- 1 teaspoon dried chives
- 1 teaspoon dried parsley
- 1 teaspoon dried dill weed
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon onion powder
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
- 1 teaspoon olive oil, optional
Whisk together all the ingredients in a mixing bowl. Pour into a jar to store in the refrigerator. Stir before using.
Note: For a dip, make it thicker by using reducing the buttermilk and increasing the sour cream and/or mayonnaise by an equal amount. Or, to make it thinner or lower calories, use more buttermilk and less mayonnaise.
Hi! How long do you think this keeps in the fridge? Thx
It keeps quite a while, at least a few weeks. But it depends some on the ingredients, mainly the sour cream. I have only had the dressing go bad once when the sour cream was already old. Buttermilk keeps for ages; I have had it last a month past the expiration date. Mayonnaise keeps for a long time too and sour cream usually lasts about a month.
