Homemade ranch dressing is so much better than bottled!  It is super fast and easy, too.  I am not sure where this recipe came from but I have been making it for many years now.   This does last at least a few weeks in the refrigerator.  The recipe is doubled from the original but I often double it again, essentially a quadruple batch.  Go ahead and cut the recipe in half, if desired.

RANCH DRESSING

  • 1 cup mayonnaise
  • 1 cup sour cream
  • 1 cup buttermilk
  • 1 teaspoon dried chives
  • 1 teaspoon dried parsley
  • 1 teaspoon dried dill weed
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon olive oil, optional

Whisk together all the ingredients in a mixing bowl.  Pour into a jar to store in the refrigerator.  Stir before using.

Note:  For a dip, make it thicker by using reducing the buttermilk and increasing the sour cream and/or mayonnaise by an equal amount.  Or, to make it thinner or lower calories, use more buttermilk and less mayonnaise.

    1. It keeps quite a while, at least a few weeks. But it depends some on the ingredients, mainly the sour cream. I have only had the dressing go bad once when the sour cream was already old. Buttermilk keeps for ages; I have had it last a month past the expiration date. Mayonnaise keeps for a long time too and sour cream usually lasts about a month.
